  • Will late payment affect mortgage offer?

We have had a full mortgage offer for a new build house which will be finished at the end of March ready for us to move into. Very excited, that's until I checked my credit score yesterday and saw it's plummetted from 786 to 620. I noticed a missed payment for very catalogue! I can afford to pay but it completely slipped my mind on this occasion, first time in 7 years. I've set up a direct debit today to ensure no further late payments. I am so worried that if mortgage provider runs another check they may withdraw offer. So
I rang very today to see if they would remove the entry, they said they couldn't but confirmed I actually satisfied the late payment on the 28th day of the month. They have therefore escalated to the complaints department to see if they can remove based on fact I did pay within the 28 days albeit late. I contacted mortgage advisor and they seemed to think it should be ok, hopefully advisor won't run another credit check and if they do then hopefully they can provide explanation. I'd appreciate any advice as now until end of March is a long time to worry. Thanks
